There is nothing quite as romantic as witnessing a couple’s love come full circle. Sarah Ratdke and Matthew Wotjowski met during a chance encounter on a night out with friends. There are many things that could have gone differently that night: Matthew could have decided to have a quiet night in or Sarah could have had other plans. As fate would have it though, the two ended up in the same place at the same time and one caught the other’s eye. Matthew proposed to Sarah in the same place where they had their first date, and they contacted me for their Milwaukee engagement photos to help capture this special time.
This wedding had all the makings of a fairytale. It was held on an unseasonably warm November day, the leaves almost as bright as the bride’s smile. The church was the same church the bride’s parents had married at 32 years ago, and to top it all off, the Cubs had won the 2016 World Series just days earlier, making the groom – a giant Cubs fan – an even happier and lucky guy. The Cubs may have had to wait 108 years to snag their win but Ben only had to wait a short 13 years to finally call Claire his wife.
It’s not often that we find people who are strong, inspiring, and down-to-earth. It’s even more rare to call one of those people your good friends. Angie McMonigal has been a close friend for several years now. She was one of my biggest fans while building up Chrissy Rose Photography when we launched in 2010. From one entrepreneur…one artist… to another, she knew when I needed a little extra support and she was always there.
Though they claim it was “friendship at first sight,” what started out as a friendship between Mark and Michelle has blossomed into a love so deep it warms your heart to witness.
It’s often the heart and character I first notice in someone. Beyond their outfit and appearance, I try to see the special light they bring to this world. At Chrissy Rose Photography, I want to capture the heart of the person and their story. This was effortless with Brady when taking his class of 2017 High School Senior Photos.
Two halves make a whole and one half without the other half, is incomplete. This is the foundation of the love I saw in Jonathan and Beth. Jonathan and Beth have a special story; being brought together by each of their different gifts that has helped them build a love that will last a lifetime.
It is hard to believe that it is back to school already and that means a new graduating class is on its final year. And for Chrissy Rose Photography, that also means it is time for senior pictures for the class of 2017 at all the area high schools: Whitefish Bay High School, Nicolet High School, Shorewood High School, Homestead High School and many many more. I had the awesome pleasure of working with Sammi, an incoming high school senior with the class of 2017 at Nicolet High School.
The evening that I met with Ted and Kate for their engagement photos at Klode Park in Whitefish Bay, beautiful fall color was everywhere. It was absolutely the kind of evening to wrap eachother in a blanket and enjoy all the color that so vibrantly surrounded us. What an evening it was…from the loving looks and sweet hugs to the laughter they shared. It was a genuine glimpse into what was in store for these two on their wedding day and beyond.
Guess what internet world? I am a boudoir photographer! Yes, I take those kinds of pictures of women and I couldn’t be more proud of it. Because here is the secret to those kinds of photos: the experience has very little to do with outward appearance and everything to do with a woman’s inner strength. I have first hand knowledge…I have had boudoir photos taken of me on two separate occasions and I plan to keep doing it. As a boudoir photographer, I have heard some of the most amazing stories behind the why women have these photos taken of them. Their stories are so inspiring and I am incredibly honored to have been chosen as their photographer. As you can imagine, most women are reluctant to allow me to share their intimate, beautiful photos from our sessions. So instead I asked them if they would allow me to share their stories. A few agreed and I am starting a blog series to tell those stories. I determined it was only fair if I shared my own first and here I am. The women (and me) also posed for two additional photos to add as a visual component to their story. The first is them sharing their why and the second is them telling me how they felt as a result. This series is nothing short of empowering and I hope you will enjoy.
Monday Wedding Fix is here! After a weekend of shooting weddings, I am excited to be sharing a completed wedding from earlier in the season. This is the Milwaukee wedding of Samantha and Roger. Their wedding was a beautiful tribute to winning big as it was held at Potowatomi Casino Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. But this occasion was nothing like a gamble…it was a sure bet with a major payout.
